When it comes to online dating, there are several things that one can do to increase their chance of success. But, when it comes to spotting an online dating player, it can become difficult to say the least. Players in the online dating world are just as, if not more, commonplace than one might think. They tend to have profiles that look like everyone else’s on the surface, but there are certain red flags that seem to set them apart from the rest and showcase their true nature as players.

As a leading online dating expert I’m going to show you a few things that you need to be on the look out for:

Online Dating Players are Vague :

When someone creates an online dating profile, the idea is to find someone to date, marry, or at least, get to know better. Now, when it comes to online dating players, they are merely looking for a one-night-stand or less.  So their profiles aren’t usually well thought out or even telling of the type of person that they are nor who they might be looking for. They might say only a few things in their profile that sound too good to be true, but the vagueness is indeed apparent. It’s not what they are saying but what they aren’t saying that you need to be aware of. Look out for this and you will steer clear of the players.

Cut and Paste Messages:

Another commonplace player tactic is to message as many people as possible, which means that the messages are usually cut and pasted.  These are messages  that are short, sweet, and to the point. To find out if the person messaging you is a player, just ask them a few questions about themselves and wait. Do they answer carefully or do they completely ignore or gloss over the questions? If they are simply not interested in getting to know you better or for you to get to know them better, you can bet that they are an online dating player.

Straight to the Point

One step beyond this is the speed that they ask you out.  If they want to take you out for drinks, dinner and a movie in the first or second message then alarm bells are naturally going to start ringing.  Getting to know each other is a longer process than that.  They know that a few people will agree to meet quickly, so they’ll chance their hand….just make sure it’s not you.  I’m not saying you have to wait forever to meet but at least hold out beyond the first few sentences.

Do Your Own Research:

The last way to tell if an individual is an online dating player is to do a little research. The interesting thing is that many players have profiles on other social media sites stating exactly what type of person they are. Or even worse, the fact that they are married or living with someone.  Yes, that really can happen. If it looks and sounds too good to be true, then it probably is, but just to give yourself a little peace of mind, do a little research on those that you find interesting, and you just might uncover a few player behaviour traits right on your computer screen, no questions asked.
